Use of Technology in Agriculture: Some Examples in Turkiye and Other Countries

Use of technology and/or new innovations in agricultural production has become important for both effective and efficient use of resources, saving time and labor. It plays, because, a critical role in increasing productivity, reducing environmental impacts, and achieving sustainability goals. In this chapter, some examples of the use of technology in agriculture are given, and also, some technology applications in Turkiye and other countries are discussed. An example of the application of digitization, use of sensors, and other automation equipment in agriculture based on the whole farmers of a village under the name of “Smart Village Project” in Turkiye for both crop and animal production and its components are explained. Similar examples from some countries in the world are also given.
