Care, Solidarity, Coalitions, and Power

  • Felipe G. Santos

摘要

This concluding chapter synthesizes the book’s insights by framing empowerment as a relational and iterative process that emerges through care work within social movements. It explores the critical role of solidarity early risers in initiating mobilization in cases in which those directly aggrieved are overwhelmed by their oppression. It examines how emotional, identity, and participatory care interact to enable individuals to overcome barriers to participation and take ownership of their struggles. Empowerment is conceptualized as both an individual and collective phenomenon, rooted in the relational dynamics of care. The chapter highlights the transformative potential of care-driven mobilization, showing how it fosters agency, leadership, and commitment among members. By situating these processes within broader theoretical debates, the chapter offers a comprehensive framework for understanding the role of care in fostering solidarity and mobilization.
