Ecosocialism and Ecological Civilisation

A major challenge for ecosocialists is with respect to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the recent instituting of policies aiming to establish an Ecological Civilisation. Though environmental and social injustices have occurred under various administrations over the decades, there have also been lasting ecosocial advances that tend to be little appreciated by many ecosocialists living in liberal democracies. An under-appreciated issue is the fate of Ecological Civilisation efforts, which are having and will have global consequences. If successfully implemented, Ecological Civilisation policies would raise major political questions regarding the relevance of building ecosocialism compared to supporting the Communist Party of China’s project for an ecologically sustainable socialist future.
