Mechanics and Copernican Revolution
摘要
The various facets and developments of the so-called Copernican Revolution will be succinctly presented. It is considered by most historians of science as one of the most profound movements with the greatest repercussions both in science and in society itself. These changes led to a change in mentality and worldview that prevailed until then, a true turnaround in thinking, reflected in practically every society. Copernicus, when proposing a reform in the Ptolemaic model, due to its operational difficulties, by removing the earth from the center of the universe, destabilized all established order. The continuity of this process brought to the center of the storm not only Galileo and Descartes, but later Newton and Leibniz, albeit differently, promoting a general reconfiguration in scientific thought, always with mechanics occupying a prominent place and also being profoundly remodeled.
