Onychomadesis refers to a complete separation of the proximal and distal nail plates due to a temporary cessation of nail growth [1–3]. An inciting trauma may result in a complete loss in the continuity of the nail matrix, resulting in a depression (Beau’s line) or complete nail plate separation (onychomadesis) from the matrix [4]. As the proximal nail plate grows, the distal plate is pushed upwards and is ultimately shed [5].

摘要

Onychomadesis refers to a complete separation of the proximal and distal nail plates due to a temporary cessation of nail growth [1–3]. An inciting trauma may result in a complete loss in the continuity of the nail matrix, resulting in a depression (Beau’s line) or complete nail plate separation (onychomadesis) from the matrix [4]. As the proximal nail plate grows, the distal plate is pushed upwards and is ultimately shed [5].
