AI and Capitalism

Although discussions about AI and politics are relatively new, the impact of this technology on the environment (Crawford 2021a), workers (Crawford 2021b; Acemoglu 2021;Gray and Suri 2019), colonization (Noble 2018; Acemoglu 2021), Culture (O’Neil 2016), and the economy (Markoff 2015: 342–343; Marr 2022; Agrawal et al. 2022) has been noted. Even capitalism has been brought into this discussion (Zuboff 2019; Fuchs and Mosco 2015; Fuchs 2018). A key gripe is that these discussions seem to be occurring in an empty space that is loosely political (Crawford 2021a).
