This study addresses the application of “schemata” in Eugene Ionesco’s ‘Rhinoceros,’ a technique that has traditionally been associated with the analysis of literary works, such as stories or poems. However, the research argues that this device can be used to interpret the impact of schemata on literary responses. The data for this study was randomly gathered from Ionesco’s ‘Rhinoceros’ to explore the use of schemata and uncover the diverse ideologies depicted in the short story. A quantitative approach was employed to analyze the collected data. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of the text, characters by Ionesco and his anti-theatre genre, this paper will showcase the various schemata embedded within the characters of the short story, highlighting the stark differences between the theatre of the absurd and conventional theater. The study aims to emphasize the underlying themes of logic and absurdity, which play a crucial role in shaping different interpretations of the play.
