Applying a Critical Colonial Lens to Somali Migration to Scotland

  • Emma Hill

摘要

The opening chapter of this book made the case for applying what it terms a critical colonial lens to the patterns of mobility, governance and social formation which have shaped the phenomena of Somali migration to Scotland and the ways in which it has been ‘(b)ordered by various administrative (post)colonial ‘centres’. A critical colonial lens, which draws on both decolonial and post-colonial theorisationsPost-colonial theory of global social inequality, mobility, citizenship and (in)justice, makes as its starting point the centrality of colonial power to sociopolitical-spatial relations, their organisation and their effects past and present.
