This chapter explores cognitive approaches to translanguaging, focusing on metacognition and cognitive flexibility as key concepts. It examines how bilingual individuals employ these cognitive processes to manage and optimize their language use in various contexts. The chapter addresses the role of metacognition in monitoring and evaluating language choices, enhancing communicative strategies and learning outcomes.
