Effects of Aging on Gait and Posture
摘要
The aging process is often characterized by changes in the musculoskeletal and sensory systems and central nervous system. These modifications due to the aging process result in postural control and mobility problems. As a consequence, the risk of falling increases and the daily life activities and mobility of older adults are negatively affected. Therefore, it is important to describe the effects of aging on mechanisms involved in postural control and gait. This chapter provides an overview of these factors, including the effects of the aging process on postural control and walking. Finally, a brief overview of posture and gait variables will be outlined to provide the best understanding of balance/gait deficits.
