Codes of Governance, Stewardship and Proxy Advisors

The chapter examines governance codes, with a particular focus on corporate governance codes for listed companies, stewardship codes for institutional investors, and best-practice codes for proxy advisors. Although these codes are voluntary and based on the “comply or explain” principle, they provide an important reference point for assessing the quality of corporate governance.
