Complications During Apheresis in Patients with Hematologic Diseases

Therapeutic plasmapheresis is used in treating autoimmune diseases, certain intoxications, and other pathological conditions that require the rapid removal plasma toxins. This treatment method can cause various complications, with a mortality rate between 0.03 and 0.05% and varying levels of morbidity. Proper management of these complications, which can be lifesaving in certain diseases, is equally important. This article aims to describe the complications and management of therapeutic plasmapheresis in light of the latest guidelines.
