Introduction: Ukraine—The In(di)visible Land

Russia’s unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine has had profound consequences for Ukrainian society. To date, it has resulted in the violent deaths of thousands of civilians and the displacement of millions. The war has had a major negative impact on the economy, caused the destruction of infrastructure, environmental ruination, and the loss of cultural heritage. Yet despite these hardships, Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion has prompted a transformative process of breaking free from the remnants of centuries-long colonial oppression.
