The Anti-science Movement in Twenty-First-Century America and Europe

Anti-science, or the attempt to denounce the legitimacy of science, has had a powerful position in America and Europe. Thousands of deaths have resulted from anti-science, and those who are behind the anti-science movement are putting both themselves and others at risk. This chapter will explore the anti-science movement in America and Europe and the threat that anti-science has on public health and society. First, we define how anti-science has been employed broadly throughout history. Then, the anti-science movement in the twenty-first century is detailed. Finally, the end of the chapter explains future directions to limit the further spread of the anti-science movement.
