In the conclusion, the main findings of the book will be summarised and brought into conversation with existing literature. Positioning British Bangladeshi women as creative agents in the making of their past and present offers an interesting contribution to the fields of diaspora and memory studies. Through different embodied practices, including dance, they strategically subordinate the heavily entangled notions of national and religious belonging, which have been found to disturb and interrupt continuities and meaningful mnemonic narratives among British Bangladeshi women in London. This complements existing work, which tends to limit its focus to their Muslim practices and identities, and illustrates the importance of belonging to London, home villages in Bengal, as well as pre-Partition and pre-colonial imaginations of South Asianness. The chapter will offer reflections on applying dance as a method and conclude with a plea to the reader to deepen mnemonic literacy and proximities to others in a postcolonial world.
