Proarrhythmias

There is no general agreement concerning the definition of the term “proarrhythmiaProarrhythmia” (PA). Some consider it as representing exclusively the aggravation of arrhythmiaArrhythmias by an antiarrhythmic drugAntiarrhythmic drugs (AAD). Indeed, the term was born when a specific malignant arrhythmic event, labeled as “quinidine syncope”, was induced in some individuals by quinidine therapy. The term was afterward expanded to all drugs (AAD or not) able to induce arrhythmiasArrhythmias (mainly ventricularVentricular arrhythmiasArrhythmias).
