This article examines the impact of migration, particularly long-distance migration, on two leading urban centres of the Polish-Lithuanian state (Kraków and Lublin). It focuses on various forms of movement involving men and women alike. Drawing on a wide range of archival sources of a legal and economic nature, the article shows that migration processes allowed for interethnic and interconfessional interactions and highlights the importance of social networks that reflected the migrants’ place of origin, social status, and wealth.
