In this chapter, we will first provide an introduction about CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric (CEHE) and its role in ERCOT. Next, we will describe major events that have caused significant impact to the CEHE grid in the last few decades. Finally, we will explain our reliability and resiliency strategy covering prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. Smart grid technologies to enable safe, reliable, and resilient operation of the electric grid also will also be discussed.
