Meralgia paresthetica is characterized by pain, usually burning, in the anterolateral thigh. It can be associated with dysesthesia, allodynia, and decreased sensation. This most commonly occurs in overweight males, after anterior hip surgery, or in patients placed in a prone position for prolonged periods of time.
