The femoral nerve (L2–L4 posterior divisions) supplies the iliopsoas, sartorius, and quadriceps muscles. It gives off the medial and intermediate cutaneous nerves of the thigh as well as the saphenous nerve. It can be exposed in the retroperitoneum and/or the femoral triangle.
