The suprascapular nerve arises from the upper (superior) trunk of the brachial plexus, mostly from C5, with small contribution from C6, it supplies supraspinatus and infraspinatus. It can be entrapped at the suprascapular notch. Decompression involves cutting the suprascapular ligament. The nerve is also commonly involved in upper trunk brachial plexus injury. Treatment includes spinal accessory to suprascapular nerve transfer.
