Schütte, Magdalene (1904–1980)

Magdalene Schütte studied medicine and joined the ‘Kinderfachabteilung’ (‘special children's ward’) in Eichberg around 1942. There she soon advanced to a senior position and was put in charge of the department of paediatrics. More than 500 children are said to have died at the Eichberg institution during the time the ‘special children’s ward’ existed. After the war the murders at Eichberg were investigated, but Schütte was never charged and continued to work as a paediatrician.
