Non-interconnected zones in emerging countries have traditionally obtained electricity through diesel generators. The evolution of technology means that today, there are many projects for installing renewable microgrids (photovoltaic, batteries, small hydro generators) to improve people’s quality of life. The designs are made with a single population in mind and its demand without considering the adjacent populations. This article explores connecting populations to improve the system’s operating costs. This approach would increase the system’s reliability in the event of a generator failure; it would be possible to downsize the equipment with the consequent cost savings, and, in the end, it would improve access to energy in this population. The results show that the connection of removable energy between populations that are not very distant improves the operating cost of the overall system.

摘要
