Despite the potential of Electronic Health Records (EHR) technology to enhance service quality and efficiency in healthcare, adoption rates continue to be low. This bibliometric analysis is conducted to assess the progress in EHR adoption, identify existing gaps and disparities, and shed light on the growth, current trends, and future directions in the field of adopting EHR. The study employs VOSviewer software for analyzing data from the Scopus database, thoroughly examining a substantial collection of 788 documents related to EHR adoption, covering the period from 2005 to 2023.This study found a steady rise in EHR adoption research from 2005 to 2023, with the US at the forefront, contributing 412 papers, while Canada and the UK offer moderate inputs. In Arab countries, Saudi Arabia and Jordan lead, with others like the UAE and Qatar increasingly engaged. Moreover, Harvard Medical School stands out with 22 publications. Dominant research themes include electronic health records, adoption, and health information technology, along with significant mentions of e-health and technology acceptance model.
