Existence and the World: A Froth of Nothingness at the Surface of Being

  • Annabelle Dufourcq

摘要

Every consciousness is absence and nothingness. Sartre certainly foregrounds a sharp distinction between perception and imagination in The Imaginary, but the conclusion to this work considerably nuances such a separation. “Imagination is not an empirical power added to consciousness, it is the whole of consciousness insofar as it realizes its freedom.”
