Conclusion

The main lesson of this study is that the analysis of the imaginary goes well beyond understanding a limited range of our experience. It is a modality of presence and, more fundamentally, the very nature of presence and reality that is in question. The implications and stakes of the analysis are thus just as much cognitive and aesthetic as existential, moral, political, and ultimately ontological.
