The Genuine and Even Enhanced Presence of the Real in the Imaginary

  • Annabelle Dufourcq

摘要

It is because the ground of all existence, all reality, and all consciousness is a syncretic flow in which a multitude of differentiations ceaselessly emerge without ever hypostatizing into things in themselves, that the perceived real, defined as presence-absence, and the imaginary, defined as presence-absence, are possible, along with continual passages between them. Merleau-Ponty will therefore be able to define the imaginary as a new mode of presence of objects themselves, and consequently as a new dimension of the real, enlarging and deepening the core of the perceived real.
