Digital Technologies to Know and Enhance the Cultural Heritage: The Abbey of Santa Maria De Olearia

The paper is part of the experimentation with tools for acquiring knowledge and enhancing cultural heritage with digital, non-invasive, and customizable solutions respecting the spatial characters of places designed for different use levels. The case study deals with the cave church of Santa Maria de’ Olearia on the Amalfi coast to make known and virtually reachable a place peculiarly built in a context with significant criticalities of physical accessibility. Digital fruition tools are employed to overcome physical barriers and engage and interest a broader range of users, from the youngest to the oldest, by proposing alternative ways of art education.
