Psychology and the Future
摘要
Psychology, long seen as “the science of the future,” has captivated students and professionals with its potential to unravel human life and behavior. Since its inception in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, psychology has evolved significantly. Originally focused on sensory functions in laboratory settings, it has grown into a multifaceted profession with over half a million practitioners worldwide, including those with Ph.D.s, Psy.D.s, and various degrees. Today’s psychological practice encompasses diverse fields that would have been unimaginable to early pioneers like Wundt, Fechner, and Ebbinghaus. This evolution reflects a broader trend where the discipline continuously adapts and expands, surpassing the expectations of early figures such as William James and Edward B. Titchener.
