Introduction

The subject of this textbook is geometric function theory, the study of complex analysis with an emphasis on the geometric viewpoint and on geometric results. In this introductory chapter, we set out the required prerequisites, some motivation for the study of a second course on complex analysis, as well as an outline of the topics covered.
