摘要

In this chapter we explore the Gweru intra-urban migration trajectories of this group of lodgers. We examine how lodgers cope with housing stress and whether this propels them to move. We note the priorities related to absolute, relational, and relative space that are the most important factors for moving in the relentless search for “better” lodging. Overall trends are portrayed for the 160 internal moves made. We then employ the housing pathway framework, which we adapt to empathy/friend-assisted lodging pathways and family network-assisted lodging pathways for individual migration stories. Finally, we discuss a sense of belonging and home and how lodgers assess “better” lodging.
