Additive Manufacturing Technologies
摘要
The focus of this chapter is on different processes used in manufacturing tangible products. Moreover, the chapter showcases (i) machining (material removal) and (ii) additive manufacturing techniques. It sheds light on key characteristics involving machining techniques such as turning, drilling, and milling, as well as compatible materials. Then, conventional additive manufacturing techniques, which mainly utilize polymer-based filaments, resin, and metal powder, are described, highlighting their advantages over long-used machining techniques, in a rapid-prototype-demanding environment. Finally, commercial 3D printers and materials are presented to the reader, offering guidance in choosing appropriate tools for their applications.
