Cultural Transformation for Software Firms in Bangladesh: Overcoming Challenges with Hybrid Project Management

Context: The cultural transformation challenges faced by software firms in Bangladesh necessitate the integration of traditional values with modern project management methodologies. This blend aims to enhance project outcomes and promote industry growth through strategic adoption of hybrid project management. Objective: This paper seeks to address the challenges of cultural transformation in Bangladeshi software firms by examining the impact of cultural dimensions on project management. The goal is to provide a cohesive framework that combines traditional and agile practices. Method: Utilizing a comprehensive analysis approach, this study examines various research endeavors and case studies, highlighting the benefits of a hybrid project management approach. The analysis includes examining cultural dimensions such as power distance, uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, and time orientation. Results: The study identifies that a hybrid project management approach, which combines traditional and agile methodologies, can effectively navigate cultural challenges. Key findings include the necessity of clear communication, localized training, and a gradual implementation strategy to overcome hierarchical barriers and resistance to change. Conclusion: Hybrid project management is essential for the successful integration of traditional cultural values with modern methodologies in the Bangladeshi software industry. Further scholarly attention and empirical studies are required to fully realize the potential of hybrid project management in culturally diverse contexts. This review emphasizes the need for a balanced approach that respects cultural heritage while promoting efficient project execution.
