German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Angela Merkel exercised leadership activity in all three crises and was constrained to use the cooperative leadership style by her domestic environment. Her peers in the European Council describe her democratic leadership style based on repeated inclusive negotiations and aimed at compromise as particularly effective in the financial and debt crisis and the Ukraine crisis. Visionary leadership style she used in the migration crisis did not prove to be efficient.
