Discourse Analysis of Group Decision-Making Processes

  • Mohammed Al-Badawi

摘要

This paper looks at the relationship between discourse analysis and group decision-making processes. Using discourse analysis, this study examines linguistic and paralinguistic elements in recorded transcripts of group meetings, revealing insights into the dynamics of decision-making discourse. The analysis found there are two forms of discourse—cognitive and socio-emotional. It was found that individuals of high authority often dominate intellectual discussions while discussions to do with feelings, relationships, and social dynamics encourage cooperative relationships among group members.
