摘要

The success in politics hinges on the ability to persuade citizens to cast their votes in favor of a candidate. Political campaigns, comprising speeches, written content, and broadcasts, serve as the platforms where language is employed for an overarching and uncontroversial objective. The methodologies employed to achieve this persuasive purpose are varied, encompassing a spectrum from negative campaigning to positive self-promotion, often conveyed through slogans or posters. This chapter employs a close descriptive-qualitative inquiry to elucidate the presentation of political language, particularly in the form of slogans and posters. Our aim is to conduct a meticulous critical examination that brings forth crucial insights regarding the significance of these instruments through a thought-provoking assessment. While existing literature provides several compelling analyses, albeit incomplete, of how politicians promote themselves, the utilization of linguistic tactics in persuasion contributes significantly to the overall political landscape. The study concludes that the language embedded in slogans and posters plays a pivotal role in shaping public perception of political issues. Political language, thus, stands as a critical lens through which to comprehend the evolving nature of politics, possessing the capacity to mobilize individuals and articulate compelling narratives. Success in this realm necessitates messaging that resonates with the target audience, employing clear and compelling storytelling, utilizing both words and visuals as strategic tools to influence the trajectory of history.
