Understanding the Concept of Translation in Light of Neo-institutional and Decolonial Theories: The Concept of Internationalization as a Case Study

Ambiguity persists when it comes to defining internationalization. The term covers various practices, including teaching and learning in English, engaging with foreign institutions, and incorporating global topics into curricula. we adopt a framework that blends neo-institutional and decolonial theories. Our approach shaped after hours of reading and contemplating various theoretical viewpoints regarding the matter at hand. The amalgamation of these two perspectives serves two purposes. Firstly, it enables us to take a more comprehensive analytical stance while charting present happenings linked to internationalization. Secondly, it highlights the fundamental need to employ a decolonial perspective. The study concludes that the perspective of decolonization takes center stage in this chapter, recognizing how internationalization discussions, policies, and practices are susceptible to the influences of university colonialism and the colonial legacy of countries.
