摘要

The work of translation is explored in this piece through its role in creating meaning. In the course of three examples, it is demonstrated that translation can act as a tool against the chaos of semiotic and semantic confusion. The study delves into how meaning generation in translation is significant when it goes beyond the borders of language symbols. The case studies given illustrate the concept in action, highlighting how translation can take something unfamiliar and make it more accessible. The first two examples demonstrate this through the oscillation between the terminological and impressionistic types of translation. These examples explore the translation of music into biochemistry and language, respectively. Negotiations of meaning are performed by translation in the third case study which examines how language and painting negotiate meaning. If the translation is poorly executed, the essential elements of the information may become lost in the confusion.
