Identity Shield: Cultivating Privacy Awareness Through AR for Young Adults

This research focuses on young adults’ vulnerability to cyber threats and develops an Identity Shield AR application to enhance privacy awareness through challenges. The game consists of three main challenges: Facebook Auth, Email Phishing, and Malware Hunter. These challenges focus on four main cyber attacks: identity theft, brute force, phishing, and malware. To test whether the awareness of the participants increased, an experiment was undertaken on 30 university students. Results indicate a significant impact on participants’ awareness (p < 0.05), though limitations include a small sample size and basic AR features. Future work entails expanding AR capabilities, broadening the audience, and improving game mechanics and UI for enhanced educational impact.
