Generalized Anxiety: Linking in Vitamin D
摘要
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a prevalent mental health condition characterized by excessive and persistent worrying, affecting the quality of life of many people, worldwide. Vitamin D, a secosteroid hormone, has been implicated in the regulation of a plethora of neurological processes, including enhancement of neuroplasticity and neurotransmitter homeostasis. Recent experimental and observational studies have suggested an association between impairment of vitamin D status and increased susceptibility to anxiety symptoms. By synthesizing current literature and elucidating plausible mechanisms, this chapter seeks to offer insights into the interplay between generalized anxiety and vitamin D, paving the way for novel intervention strategies and enhanced management approaches in clinical practice.
