Depression is among the most prevalent common mental disorders in the world. In order to prevent and treat depression, it is extremely important to understand the factors related to its pathophysiology. Therefore, oxidative stress is an important factor related to the genesis of depression, as it is linked to neuroinflammation, alterations in neurological signaling, among other factors. About the control of oxidative stress, antioxidants from the diet play an important role. Thus, dietary total antioxidant capacity (dTAC) stands out as the representation of metrics to measure the total consumption of antioxidants derived from a dietary pattern. From this perspective, this chapter seeks to understand the relationship between diet and depression through dTAC measures.
