Global Context of Specific Diseases and Quality of Life: The Example of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a significant worldwide public health condition affecting women and those assigned female at birth worldwide, impacting an individual across the lifespan. Health-related quality of life is a multidimensional concept describing how a condition and all related treatments influence a person’s social, physical, and psychological well-being. People with PCOS have a significantly poorer quality of life, impacting all aspects of their health. Understanding how PCOS impacts quality of life, how to best assess quality of life using generic and PCOS-specific validated tools in this population and the next steps in how to best support someone to better their quality of life is essential in providing evidence-based, multidisciplinary PCOS care to all people with PCOS, worldwide.
