Health-related quality of life (QoL) shows the impact of disease, disease-related disabilities, and treatment and recovery processes on a person’s physical, emotional, perceptual, and social interactions. It is important to assess the quality of life of patients and caregivers using general and/or specific scales when diagnosing, treating, and following neurological disorders. The global elderly population and the number of people living with dementia are increasing. Alzheimer’s disease, one of the most common forms of dementia, is a chronic disease that directly impacts the quality of life of patients and caregivers. “Quality of life” (QoL) is one of the important parameters that can be used to monitor disease progression. There are many general and specific scales for patients and caregivers. This chapter discusses quality of life scales and characteristics used in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
