Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a complex, chronic neurodegenerative disease affecting every aspect of the lives of those affected. The consequences of PD vary and manifest in every aspect of the individual’s life. The psychosocial sequelae of PD continue to be an underexplored topic that significantly affects the quality of life of those living with the condition and their caregivers. This chapter describes these psychosocial challenges and introduces a novel framework to mitigate these issues. This chapter delves into the impact of PD on the mental well-being, social interactions, and overall quality of life of patients. By reviewing the literature and proposed frameworks, the authors describe key psychosocial stressors, such as stigma, depression, and social isolation. Various interventions, ranging from psychoeducation programs, wellness strategies, and tailored support systems, are proposed as potential solutions. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of the psychosocial dimensions of PD and offers valuable insights into novel strategies for enhancing the overall psychosocial health of individuals living with PD.
