[online] https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/HTN, 2021) estimates that 1.13 billion individuals globally suffer from high blood pressure. Stress-inducing psychological symptoms can also worsen with long-term HTN. Long-term drug therapy, disease management, and constant treatment-related thinking can cause panic and tension, which can further exacerbate depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and other symptoms. In a similar vein, the beginning and worsening of HTN are associated with stress, worry, and depression. Congenital impairments including dementia and emotional well-being are also impacted by this condition. A variety of drugs are used as common antihypertensive therapy to control elevated blood pressure and hence lessen problems. This study is based on a search of Google Scholar, the referenced works of pertinent articles, and the databases Medline and PubMed. Validated instruments and techniques have been used in numerous studies involving a range of age groups, genders, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses to evaluate psychological components (such as stress, anxiety, and depression) and quality-of-life (QOL) measures, which included clinical assessment and standardized questionnaires. In addition to discussing the connection between HTN and psychological function, this study offers coping mechanisms that are essential for reducing the negative psychological effects of HTN. In hypertension patients, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and stress-reduction strategies have been proven to be beneficial in lowering blood pressure and enhancing mental health.
