Delays of Mental Development After PICU Admission
摘要
Advancements in medical care have significantly increased PICU survival rates, leading to a greater emphasis on understanding post-discharge morbidities in critically ill children. Delays in mental development, including emotional and behavioral problems, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), are prevalent after PICU admission, persisting over time. Parental mental health also plays a crucial role in children’s recovery and development post-discharge. Comprehensive interventions, ranging from prevention to specialized care, are needed to address the complex mental health needs of critically ill children and their families. Multidisciplinary follow-up programs, including pediatric psychologists, are essential for providing ongoing support and intervention tailored to individual needs.
