Autoimmune Encephalitis and Impact on Measures of Cognition
摘要
Autoimmune encephalitis refers to a group of neuro-inflammatory disorders characterized by autoantibody-associated nervous system dysfunction, with diverse neuropsychiatric clinical manifestations. Despite significant clinical and pathophysiologic heterogeneity, the approaches to diagnostic evaluation, symptomatic management, and disease treatment are broadly comparable among the various syndromes. Neurocognitive dysfunction in the acute and chronic phases of disease is nearly universal, and accurate assessment and long-term follow-up of cognitive and psychological sequelae are imperative. This chapter will provide a clinical overview of autoimmune encephalitis, and comprehensively review existing literature regarding neurocognitive features, outcomes, and assessment measures relevant to these disorders.
