Over 21 million children globally suffer from chronic childhood diseases which affect their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The burden of care for these children falls on family caregivers—who endure physical exhaustion, emotional stress, financial strain, and social isolation—all of which negatively affect the caregivers’ quality of life. However, caregivers also experience moments of joy, resilience, and fulfillment, demonstrating the strength of the human spirit and familial love. The impact of the children’s illnesses on caregivers’ quality of life is illustrated using three conditions: Down syndrome, tracheostomy, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Caregivers who are provided with additional resources, emotional support, and practical assistance can have improved well-being, which may enhance their ability to care for their children. It is a societal imperative to value, support, and empower the caregivers so that they can live fulfilling lives and continue to care for their children to the best of their ability.

摘要
