Screening for Drug Use and Misuse
摘要
The chapter presents an overview of various universal screening tools designed to assess substance use across different populations and settings, focusing on primary care, adolescents, pregnancy, and special populations. It outlines the characteristics and applications of these tools, including ASSIST, DAST, DUDIT, TAPS, ORT, CRAFFT, and others, covering substances like alcohol, tobacco, opioids, cannabis, and prescription drugs. We highlight the importance of early detection and intervention, emphasizing the significance of addressing substance use disorders in diverse healthcare contexts. Additionally, we discuss the challenges and considerations associated with implementing screening tools, such as the need for comprehensive assessments and the importance of considering sociodemographic factors. The chapter underlines the potential of these screening tools to aid healthcare providers in identifying individuals at risk and facilitating timely brief or intensive interventions to mitigate the adverse effects of substance misuse.
