The Impact of COVID-19 on Pulmonary Tuberculosis: Psychological Perspective

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to widespread psychological distress among the whole population, especially pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients, by affecting the National TB Elimination Program. It has caused significant delays in initiating the antitubercular regimen, among which the majority were DR-TB. This pandemic has caused a sudden downfall in the diagnosis, notification, and treatment, thereby affecting the overall outcome of PTB. Psychological distress, which encompasses fear, anxiety, and depression, was predominant in the COVID-19 pandemic due to multiple factors.
